Steve Asmussen:

“We like who he is, like how he came out of it, like how he’s trained back\"

If the number he ran in the maiden race can be believed, he\'s just as fast as the favorite, and TRACK PHANTOM could be trending in the wrong direction.

With the bounce out of the way in the Risen Star, a return back to the top isn\'t out of the question for this lightly raced 3yo in the Louisiana Derby. If that\'s the case, a Thoro-Graph 5 could be tough to beat.

I totally agree with your assessment of HOF. This my single in all multi race wagers.

If interested in other works from FG enter the horse\'s name at this site to see what\'s out there:  https://www.kentuckybred.org/workout-videos/

Real Men Violin might be worth a watch to form an opinion also ;)

Common defense looks solid.
No set backs nice progressive pattern.
Last out he jumped up almost 2 pts.
If he jumps up again the same amount he has a 5 figure.

Johnym, I\'m with you on Common Defense but will box tri/super with:

Agate Road - WIN at anything close to 8:1
Antiquan
Common Defense
Track Phantom

The two making their 3rd starts for trainers who are rock solid 3rd out are the ? marks for me.

The Video from  our friend Fairmont notwithstanding, HOF has a terrible thoro-patern for those who follow such things.  I certainly do.

The Jeff Ruby looks like an easier spot for AR. Does anyone know which one Pletcher decided on?

Good Luck,

He\'s sending Triple Espresso to KY.  Agate stays in for FG.  Per Hirsch.

Re: Thoro-Pattern

I think Steve Byk is the only other person to pay attention to the Thoro-Pattern. ;-)

Kidding aside, it\'s definitely a concern that HOF comes in off an X. I\'m not surprised his Thoro-Pattern numbers are lacking because of that. Not many horses can recover off a bad effort like that ... next out. I guess I\'m making an exception in this particular case because the horse in question is lightly raced.

I\'m also not that surprised that AGATE ROAD looks good. Thoro-Pattern doesn\'t take into consideration how the top was earned. Correct me if I\'m wrong, but that\'s my understanding of the data.

I\'m not sure what\'s more of a cause for concern. A horse that moves forward 5 points, or a horse that goes backwards 5 points off a top. We\'re gonna find out soon enough, though.

Catching Freedom has a nice sheet, and that sheet with three year olds usually produces a new top, a couple of pairs, with two small forward moves, an improving horse, and really like his pedigree, whose dam and runners have run fast as three year olds, will box and key with Track Phantom in the top spot.

On the Steve Byk Show on Thursday, Jeff Franklin told viewers that he loves Agate Road in this spot. I haven\'t read any mention of this horse on this thread.
Can anyone comment on his thoughts on this entry?

Keep reading.  I posted yesterday or day before I have him on top (before the show which I have not heard).  I responded to JOhnym/Fairmount post on HOF.

Totally agree with Roman and will be keying Catching Freedom. Think he should have won the Risen Star without the difficult trip. He didn\'t change leads and was in tight and gets a terrific jockey change to Prat. Saez is not a jockey you want on a horse that has trouble changing leads.

Three maintenance works since the Risen Star and definitely has the pedigree to get the distance. He also has Cox in his corner and IMO he is the new Baffert.

A great betting race for sure, good luck to all!

I don\'t know, I am liking Honor Marie, with the nice number as a 2yr, a needed race, and the price, I will use him

I like Honor Marie underneath for Saturday, and if he runs a good race and runs a good fig, will like him  in Kentucky. Good race, just hoping for fast & firm.
