Does One Second Equal 20 Points on the Beyer Scale?

TGJB maybe the answer is as simple as yes. Which would surprise me.  

But I don\'t know how we get from that 5th Race on Saturday at the Spa an Allowance Claimer where the Contenders ran Beyers between 78-82 to the Jim Dandy which was run one second faster and we know they awarded Fierceness a Beyer of 103.

One could argue the Dandy was pretty formful with the Beyers in running order being say 103-99-92-86. That\'s strictly a guess by me but it would fit with the order of finish and their career performances. Maybe that 5th race came up a little fast. Will be interesting to see.

Not claiming their numbers are any good, but Equibase  has it


   103 vs 108 , 5th race vs jim dandy. Not a big difference at all.   Dont think they broke out the variant .

So help me out here. I\'m not an Equibase person. Does this mean they had the 5th race super fast of the Dandy fairly slow?

What is normal Par for a 3YO Grade 2 on Equibase? And likewise for that type of Claiming Level?

Not sure exactly how they make their numbers , I assume its variant based and applied to the whole card.

Beyer often makes adjustments if the number comes up slow .

This.  It really seems like Beyer goes on vibes, or whatever, when a number doesn\'t seem to fit.

At two turns on dirt, I use 12pts/sec for Beyer and 3 for TG - just as a rough measure. But you see all kinds of inexplicable Beyers relative to other races.

DRF has Beyers for the first three finishers in most stakes races on their website.  For the Jim Dandy, they were 103-102-93.

As to the points per second, it would vary by distance.

It depends on who and what ran in that race , where they finished, and lengths beaten. It does not reflect just the raw time of the race. Most figures are made off of what other horses where in that race. Correct?

Yes. It was an Allowance Claimer and everyone in there looked the same. At least the favorites. The 10 won and he was logical.  

The Dandy was reasonably form full and there only a second in final time separating the two races. And about 2.5 hours of live racing.

Bit Player thanks. I always look up the  winning Beyers on Sunday morning. I didn\'t realize the Top 3 Finshers were posted.
