There were some X\'s for the ages in these. I think 8 horses in the Derby backed up 8 points or more. Sheeesh.

But how many of these in the Derby are because they dont like slop? And how many are due to troubled trips? And ten furlongs? Some of these figs will be forgiven in the future. Did all the good horses run bad races? Did Owen Almighty discover his surface?

It\'s such a unique race. Add the slop and the figs are pretty much useless for future handicapping. There\'s just no way all those horses ran that badly with that race spacing at this point in their lives.
