GHOSTZAPPER's worst performance?

Did GHOSTZAPPER run his worst race of the year?
Did he react by 8 lengths [!] from his last and STILL win?

GHOSTZAPPER scraped paint on the rail throughout while
ROSES IN MAY was a path outside him all the way around.
It\'s not unreasonable to think, at least at first glance, that
ROSES IN MAY ran his 4th consecutive -1.5 in yesterday\'s
Classic. [The prototypical no-bounce steroid line.] The chart
says he was beaten 3 lengths by the winner. Thus, if a point
difference \"equates\" to two lengths difference on the track at
1 1/4 miles, then GHOSTZAPPER likely ran only slightly better
than RIM. A -2 or thereabouts? That\'s his WORST race of the
year by far.

The rail helped the winner. [A scenario whereby post positions
would have been reversed - that is, GHOSTZAPPER hung out
in PLEASANTLY PERFECT\'s wide post - would have been
an interesting scenario. Especially with an op- to overcome.

It should also be noted [correct me if I\'m wrong] that, like this
year, Frankel had a horrid Breeder\'s Cup last year in 2003
EXCEPT for the BC Classic where MEDAGLIA D\'ORO ran
well [but was unsuccessful.]

Would bet \"dollars to donuts\" that Roses in May ran a new top.  He beat Pleasantly Perfect by 4 lengths.  Beat other consistent negative 1 type horses by 6 to 10 lengths.  

The race went in 1:59 flat.  There was an interesting post yesterday by somebody about the fact that the track seemed to change variant during the day and get a bit slower.  The poster based it on the fact that the Juvenile was slower than the Juvy Fillies and before the race, the colts looked a few lengths faster.

We will have to wait and see what Jerry and Beyer give Ghostzapper  but Beyer already wrote an article saying he suspected that by the time the numbers are crunched that Ghostzapper\'s performance will be the fastest figure ever in  a Breeders Cup race.

My guess is a negative 4 on T-Graph! (Stab in the dark, like most of my bets yesterday)

Note that while ROSES IN MAY was 2-wide all around the track... according to the official chart,
PLEASANTLY PERFECT \"circled six wide, late gain outside,\" which causes me to think that THEY
BOTH ran the same -1.5 they ran last out. And the winner ran just slightly better and surely benefitted from his speedy rail trip. [By the way, I doubt PLEASANTLY PERFECT came back to his -3 because Mandella\'s orgasms usually come SECOND off the layoff, and it\'s really tough to truly recover from a trip to NAD.

Nevertheless, we\'ll see how Jerry sees it soon.
