making $ betting
« on: December 16, 2004, 03:33:36 PM »
Just wanted to thank everyone for the candor in their answers to my questions last week.
I don\'t relish the idea in betting into pools that don\'t spt the tracks.  And I certainly understand you can find value even when the takeout is 28%.  I guess it gets down to principle for me in a lot of ways.  Bottom line, take out is too high.  I\'m certainly willing to pay a fair price for the tracks putting on the show.  But, except for a few instances, most tracks don\'t appear to care, especially if I\'m a recreational player.  7% with a bookie is starting to look pretty good to me.

I was betting football with a bookie once and was on an all time tear. I was parlaying a pick against the spread with an over/under on the same game. (Usually, if you can project a winner, you have a rough idea of how the game is going to go points wise) Long story short, he walked on thousands and thousands of my paper winnings.
