USS Tinosa vs Booklet

First post. Appreciate all the insight you guys give and would like to get some opinions on this topic. One thing I have found is there is some incredible value when wagering one horse vs another. I hit 7 of 9 matchups on the Derby and like a few tomorrow. Does anyone else here play these matchups? I will list a few here and give your thoughts.

One of the matchups in tomorrows race is USS Tinosa vs Booklet. I actually found 2 books with entirely different lines. One had USS -170 Booklet +140. Another had Booklet -130 and USS +100. I actually ended up playing both sides to the point I got USS at 5-1 odds over Booklet.

I used to do match-ups for the golf majors & I\'ve even done some in test matches, but the problem is the one you have, namely the vig on these bets makes the tracks look reasonable. But my question is how you got to 5-1. I\'m thinking maybe I some opportunities back when I was in the habit of trying to \"jake\" football pointspreads.

You go to 5-1 by putting 3000 on USS Tinosa at +100. Then put 2000 on Booklet +140. Booklet wins you win 2800 but lose 3000 hence you lose $200. But if USS Tinosa wins you win 3000 and lose 2000 on the Booklet bet. Hence possibly losing 200 to win 1000. As a general gambling strategy this is also used in Baseball. I also see odds to win offered right now at offshores. One thing I have never been able to do is predict where the odds will end up on horses. Right now the following odds to win are offered at one offshore I like 3 of these in Proud Citizen, USS Tinosa and Table Limit.
