Batch Wagering and Late Odds Changes
« on: April 21, 2005, 05:49:49 PM »
I\'m wondering whether people who play the tracks that have cut off many of the rebate shops, including those that accommodate batch wagering (Oaklawn, Keeneland, and Aqueduct, for example; but not, as far as I know, the Magna tracks) have noticed a reduction in late odds changes?

As I have written before here, there was a significant change in the odds in the Santa Anita Derby after the gate opened. Giacomo dropped from either 5-1 or 6-1 all the way down to 7-2 and the odds on Sweet Catomine went up from 4-5 up to 1-1.  With the size of that pool, that would have had to have been a pretty hefty late wager.

I was aggravated, but, after 90 seconds, the aggravation lessened quite a bit.

I must say, my moniker aside, this sort of thing makes me very wary of betting places where things like that can happen.
