More Fuel for the Inflated Figures Argument

I have read the \"race horses getting faster\" piece and participated in the discussion on this board around the topic and I was convinced by JB\'s arguments.  

But I have to tell you Jerry, the figure you gave the maiden at Keenland on April 23rd (Northern Stag), stretches the realm of reality.  

The maiden is as fast as Bellamy Road and a shade behind Ghostzapper on GZ\'s best day.

It just doesn\'t seem logical.

Jimbo-- you are right, it doesn\'t seem logical. But as I pointed out in an earlier post about that race, he ran 18 points faster than anyone else in the race, and those horses had established decent tops. I didn\'t give any of them anywhere near their tops, I pieced it together as best I could. I actually added a little relative to the other two sprints.

By the way, he is not a 3yo. And brilliant move to bring him back fast off that.

Very dominant wire to wire winner that set a pace that was way too fast for very inferior horses trying to keep up (which killed them).

Plus, mud being kicked into some of the trailing horses faces doesn\'t help. Average winning margins on very sloppy surfaces tend to be much larger than average.
