Didn\'t Shug win the Alabama yesterday? Sure those were fillies and he seems to be better with fillies lately.
Good Reward has run two big Turf races at the distance. He\'s been a lesser dirt horse. Why is he here? Last time Shug shipped him in out West he scored, granted it was a turf score, and the Prairie Meadows try was argueably Good Reward\'s best ever dirt try. Was it a tune up? The two Grade I turf wins trouble me. They are fast and Turf winning efforts are not usually as fast as the same horse can run on Dirt IF he can adapt to both surfaces. Big IF, this horse hasnt shown that adaptation YET. This horse however has been aimed for Turf spots before, the said Grade I\'s. Obviously, he can be aimed for a turf spot. Can he be aimed for a Dirt spot and has Shug taken aim?
Lava Man gets all the break in the equal weights. Perfect Drift has given weight before at times and today he gets to run level. It will be a stunner to me if Preaching at the Bar can stay in the hunt with the pressure he figures to face from Lava Man. He\'s not been of this level in the past. Neither has Giacomo and their close finish together last doesn\'t fill me with dread. I\'m much more fearful of Good Reward here. Super Frolic can be very competitive and he\'s on his game again. The distance has suited him. All he needs is a break and a good trip.
This one is a dilly.
Super Frolic and Good Reward with Lava Man worked around them. Perfect Drift in the mix.
