Rarely can you say hitting the all button in a Grade One doesn\'t even make one feel safe enough. This one has all the looks of a nightmare affair.

The favorite is four for four at the distance by more than forty lengths. But can he rate. We will soon find out.

Giving this crew a chance to steal your money makes the three card monty dealer look beatable.

They have Commentator at 3-1 morning line. If he runs at that I may bet the house on him. Seriously though, he will be under 2-1. Guessing in the 7-5 range. To me the critical factor is whether there are quick enough horses to test him early. We\'ve seen what he can do when he gets it his own way or when he has to face an early challenge. A hot early challenge is the way he could lose this race. In that regard he has drawn inside which guarantees they will use him to maintain positon. They certainly don\'t want to face a race where he gets behind and has to face trouble and wide to get in contention.

The race boils down to whether you believe there is a horse or two that can take the race to Commentator from the opening bell and make him quick foot when he is already quick footing.

This races runs through Pomeroy. He\'s a poster boy for move up trainers. Last years Vanderbilt 43.8 quarter for the Frenchman (asked to leave Europe and Hong Kong) is quicker than this group wants.  Broke last in the Vosburgh. Second time out for south Florida move up. As they used to say in the old days, HERE FOR A REASON NOT FOR THE SEASON. Can also rate via 04 King\'s Bishop and OK back wet.
10-1 would trump his 3.7-1 05 and 4.7-1 04 scores.

Regardless congrats for a very straight forward call.

Didn\'t post pre race so can\'t say anything to water down your good call. To me however the race revolved around the fact that Commentator hadn\'t really seen top flight sprinters before and the Perfecta horses are certainly that. As quick as Commentator is he got a taste of upper class quick footing today and he didn\'t like it.

Hope you were as spot on in the Woodward, which was another race with over hyped Zito.

He had a little gate trouble and is one dimensional and couldn\'t overcome it in that field.

Assuming that you\'re congratulating LcF. He made the clear call, but can\'t complain with the race results.

For what it\'s worth, I recall Jerry or someone else noting that one sign that a horse who runs a significant top or pair (as did Commentator last out) hasn\'t been hurt by it is a fast next workout. Commentator didn\'t show a published work for 29 days after his last race.

nice call - i had a good opinion of pomeroy\'s sheet but wound up taking a shot w/  bad pattern , one number gg . it looked like gg didn\'t fire at all and very wide into the strectch probably would have needed to run a neg -9 .
