SC:
Great story about D Wayne...
In your list of attractive and competent women who have made a career in Racing, you neglected to mention the woman who may have opened the door for all who followed...
In the early 1970s, when the first NYC OTBs were opening, none of the OTBs carried the live picture. Each Saturday, however, Channel 9 carried the feature(8th) race and 9th race from whatever NY track was open. Your hosts: Frank Wright and Charlsie Cantey.
Charlsie Cantey parlayed those Channel 9 appearances into a career in front of the cameras for Racing\'s biggest days. She was always gracious when the buffoons and talking heads who had nowhere near her knowledge of Racing were given more on air time.
Retired now, having aged only imperceptibly, she is currently heard as the very distinct voice narrating the Claiborne Farm stallion TV spots.
