Terrific decision by Barclay Tagg skipping the Turf with SHOWING UP only to watch a second rate Euro runner win it.

PS: This is not Monday morning quarterbacking to anyone who has read my previous posts on what I thought of Tagg\'s decision.

PS #2: TGJB.... any special designation coming for \"golden paved rail.\"

Showing Up may be a cut below the top American horses at 12 panels, which means the 2nd rate Euro probably would have beat him anyways.

Totally agree on the golden paved rail comment though.

cacique defeated showing up in sept at 1 3/8m. watch the race, if it were an 1/8th longer, the margin would have been at least four or five lengths

cacique beat one horse on saturday - the rabbit.

showing up is built perfectly for the $5 mio 9f race in dubai, and he should also love the rock hard mth turf. that\'s a lot of bucks there, and the plan also gives the fans the opportunity to watch this gifted colt run at least a few more times.

they did the right thing.

Not sure you can make your case using CACIQUES as a barometer. The horse never picked up his feet. Besides, that race was in early September and I\'m sure you would agree that a 3yo in early November is more likely to handle his elders than in early September.

I do respect your other points. It\'s assuming a lot to think a 3yo will come back the same or better when he\'s 4.....see FLOWER ALLEY.

Joe,

i would have agreed with you saturday morning.

not so saturday night.

some of those hot three year olds that were beating up on elders in sept got trounced in the BC.

SC might have made a pretty solid prediction when he said that the brilliant three yr old class of \'06 might be toast by early next year. i sure hope he is wrong though.
