Cole Norman the latest trainer suspended
« on: December 04, 2006, 12:59:51 PM »
It appears that Cole Norman is going to be spending some time away from the oval based on his second offense.

\"....... the next guy on the list is Todd Pletcher.\"

Yeah,

Especially after his 0 for 17 performance in the Breeders Cup at the most permissive drug venue in racing. And Bruce Levine continues to slip under the radar(not mine)

GOOD POINT ABOUT SCOTT LAKE, BUT GENTLEMEN WATCH THE GULFSTREAM PARK MEETING AND WATCH THE HORSES FROM THE PLETCHER BARN.  YOU WILL SEE WHAT I MEAN.  0-17 IN THE BREEDERS CUP WAS JUST RETRIBUTION.  ALSO, HE WAS CAUGHT WITH ONE HORSE AT SARATOGA ILLEGALLY MEDICATED BUT CONTINUES TO APPEAL THE SUSPENSION.  IF HE HAS THE GREY SUIT ON, THEN YOU KNOW HIS HORSES ARE READY SO TO SPEAK.

Question for you with training/knowledge of this stuff:  Per the bloodhorse  -

?Gardiner said pre-race testing of Go Poppa Fooze showed 40.1 millimoles/Liter of TCO2 while Bayou de Storm had 38.5 millimoles/Liter of TCO2 in his system. Louisiana has a maximum threshold level of 36 millimoles/Liter of TCO2.\"

is this a big amount of differential over what is allowed?  You guys know I\'m not a fan of Norman, but it strikes me as just careless, not intentional...on the other hand, any advantage is still an advantage.

Shanahan,

According to the \"experts\", any amount over the allowed threshold TCO2 level is significant and means lengths in a race.

Louisiana has the lowest TCO2 limit in the country to my knowledge, but 40.1 is high by any state\'s standards. California\'s limit is 37.

Mchmura Re Pletcher:

\"Pletcher was asked about the use of medication in racing, and said he felt the only way to cure matters is to have nationwide uniform testing. The trainer noted that he has spent the better part of two years fighting a 45-day suspension resulting from a 1.6 nanogram positive test for the nerve-blocking drug mepivacaine found in one of his horses.

\"That\'s positive (test) there in New York, but no where else,\" said Pletcher, who claims the test was a result of accidental contamination. \"As a trainer, we are hanging our heads out there every day. It\'s an imperfect system. Not everyone is trying to cheat. There are guys out there working hard every day, trying to win the right way.\"

Listening to a South China Morning Post podcast it\'s sounding like Peter Miller\'s sprinter Fast Parade has failed for a steroid in pre race testing in Hong Kong.

I like the \"pre-race\" testing part.

What a concept, heh?

-\"As a trainer, we are hanging our heads out there every day.\"

Freudian slip?

-\"Not everyone is trying to cheat.\"

Vastly reassuring, thank you.

- \"There are guys out there working hard every day, trying to win the right way\"

Why didn\'t he say, \"We are out there working hard every day, trying to win the right way\"?
