Skimmed his chat and didn\'t see a selection, but he did say the following:

1. He does not like Curlin upon the Apollo Trend. (Almost guaranteeing Curlin will win.)

2. He will not bet the Pletchers, which makes them certain to be monumental factors.

3. He hates Tiago due to relation with Giacomo. Obviously Tiago will have a profound impact upon the season.

Andy Beyer actually surprised me with the following answer. I didn\'t think he had that kind of analysis in him. Tend to agree the management has been a puzzlement.

It doesn\'t make any sense to me, but neither does anything else the trainer has done this spring. I never understood all of his vacillation about running in the Derby. Hard Spun has the talent and should have been kept on a steady course to the Derby. But it\'s hard for me to like him with this management.

I like Beyer, hes a good writer. I just don\'t think he can really handicap is all. I\'d wish him luck this year, but he didn\'t pick a horse.

The DRF is the best thing in racing and the beyer figs are great. Beyer changed the game nationwide when the started being printed in the form. In my opinion they are a great handicapping tool. We will see what figsare bestin the derby soon enough.

Actually, they were printed in \"The Racing Times\" first.

Steven Crist was the Editor at the paper at the time. TGJB will tell you that neither Beyer nor Rags are the founders of the speed figure. Books were written in the 30\'s with the basic material.

To my mind the guy that deserves credit is Steven Crist. He brought speed figures to the major publications. But, he hasn\'t picked a Derby horse in some time too, which begs the question. Do these figures help that much in the Derby?

In my opinion I believe you will have as much success handicapping using beyers. The extras are a fantastic product that include a pace number with the final time. Sheets player get sold on big figs or a single fig. As I recall you liked Sinister Minister last year. Now isn\'t the Golden Rule of the sheets is to toss a horse like the figure he ran in the next start. Beyer may not be a great handicapper, but I also believe non of us are, we all pick way more loosers then winners and I\'m one of them, if I didn\'t have rebates i would quit in a minute.

yeah, everyone picks on beyer for his long losing streak in the derby, big deal, it\'s the biggest bullsh_it race of the year. I been playing for over 30 years. The Derby is the biggest suck azz race of the year. However, we must play it, it\'s the derby. The BC is the place to be. THat being said, ZANJERO keyed second and third behind AGS and SS to win, with a bunch others in between. Pretty obvious to me.
