Just to show that you can not have enough of a good thing, NYRA presents what
amounts to the second NYB showcase day in the last 20 days. Certainly no
shortage of NYBs. Sandwiched in between all of these events for mustangs bred
in the Empire State is last weeks ROTW, the Long Island Hdcp for long winded
female turfers; sadly this race, as analyzed last week by the TG crew, does not
seem as wide open as yesterday\'s Red Smith at Aq.
Some interesting races. In the 4th, Factual Contender, winner of 4 of her last
8,packs high weight at short odds and tries to give the Tagg Team their 3rd
stakes win in 24 hours.
In the 5th, Linda Rice has Noble Fire, who hung up a very good TG in her only
start. But LR also has two other runners entered who have early speed, as does
NE shipper Instant Lady. Linda Rice\'s TG first and second start grid shows that
she has brought back first out winners in stakes 3 times and that is all the
proprietary information I will disclose. In this race I am hoping for a
contentious speed duel with wicked fractions to set up a much slower animal:
Gary Capuano\'s Ocala Gator, who has 3 angles in her favor: First time v NYBs,
cutting back to a sprint, coming off turf.
The 8th, the NY Stallion Cormorant Stakes (1-1/16th Turf) looks wide open and
might be the best betting race on the card.
