Since I live near a place where I can buy the books, I usually end up buying the Simulcast Book or books. It gives one multiple tracks using the Thoro-quick past performances. Today there are 6 tracks for $40. 5 are in the racing form-I don\'t use Thorograph without a racing form because I use workouts a lot in my handicapping.
With 5 tracks (I\'m not playing Golden Gate since I have no form pps) I have enough data to pick my spots. I\'ve bought pps for 1 track & came up empty on some days so sometimes if one is choosing just one, you could end up paying for a day with no plays-the simulcast book reduces the chances of this happening,
At the risk of totally embarrassing myself, since I\'m due to crash & burn after cleaning up this weekend, here\'s what I like today (as you\'ll see, I like races with lightly raced horses):
Calder:
1st-I like the FL shipper #7 to win. Playing DD 7/7 saver possibilities 7/4,5. p3 add the #2 in the 3rd to the DDs.
3rd- p3 2/2,4,8/3
5th-Here\'s the 1st of several I really like. #3 is 6-1 ml, comes in from Retama where she was blocked in a similar stakes race, she has slightly higher sheet # than the 9 but she could easily be 2 for 2 if not blocked. #9 is clearly the one to beat, having won the Selima at Laurel. Box 3/9 exacta, saver exacta box 3/4. Playing some kind of $1 key (tri & or super) with 4,6,9,12 behind the 3.
p3 3/2,3/5, saver 3/1/5
7th-The 5 is Pletcher/Johnny V and figures to dominate after winning the Laurel Futurity, short price but can squeeze more value out of the 3 in the 5th.
11th-I like the #7. Playing win & 7/3,6 DD. Depending on price, I could mix the 1 in with both exacta & DD savers.
Fair Grounds:
7th: p4 5/8/All/2
8th-#8 is one of 2 Cody Autrey claims in the race. Speed # is better on this one & he goes to his main rider Theriot. p3s if no p4 going see 7th.
10th: I really like 15-1 #2 Makutus. 2nd time starter shipping in off sprint at CD. Some excellent works since the race, stretches to 1 1/16 with favorable inside post. Main foe is stuck all the way in 12 & may not even hit the board if he gets a rough trip.
Turfway:
3rd-In a race where I\'m ignoring the sheet # (31.3) on my top selection, but using the sheets for the underneath horses, I\'m taking 8-1 ML #7 Flatter Me Rose. Here\'s what he\'s got going for him (by the way DRF has him 30-1-drf odds are pretty messed up today). Dropping from last place finish at $15,000 into $7,500 today. Going from I. Diego (who is 5% at the Turfway meet-I couldn\'t find any stats on him-hasn\'t ridden this weekend when Turfway was in the form) to Pompell who has good stats with the trainer in limited data. Has bullet workout on 12/26 following a solid 101.3 bg on 12/18-both after her 12/9 race. Had decent workouts before 1st race but went off 30-1 where they may have used the race to get the filly on track experience while racing her over her head. Looking to hookup in some way with 4,9,13 in exactas & possibly other exotics.
