All the times were fast. $30,000 races going 6F in 1:08?  These numbers are worthless.

My impression was that it \"just happened\".  The jockeys were comparing it to asphalt earlier in the week - a product of the rain, not tinkering.

More important than time, horses are winning on the front end which they couldn\'t do at Del Mar and the previous SA meet. Prior to the rains the track was fast.
Baffert didn\'t want anything to do with the California surfaces with Indian Blessing as a 2YO. The fact that he ran her there today should tell you the surface has changed.

aprx 10 sec furlongs at 6/8th mile and 11 at 7/8th respectively  - hmm ... don\'t know what to make of it . based on all accounts i\'ve read about the surface after the rains ,imo -  they did well to get racing back when they did . i thought the track played fairly pre-rains , but i\'m unclear on how it\'s playing now since reopening - even after looking at charts ...

Apparently the Beyer people did think much of the effort.  91 according to DRF, which surprised me a bit.
