ROTW - For what its worth

I do not think, but I could be wrong, that the ROTW was ever meant to make anybody rich. As it has been stated, its a tool to help you, with out spending $25, familiarize yourself with the product and its benefits, so you can go make your mint.  DRF has a race of the week.  Go see how much you learn from them giving you their selections!

TVG is not putting any pressure on me, but I told them when we started I would give them one a week, so it\'s a problem. Like this week-- I want to do the Million, I don\'t think they carry it.

Isn\'t that the nature of the game?  You lose a lot more races than you win; both losers and winners seem to come in bunches; and you hope to more than offset the losses by crushing an occasional race.  I don\'t know why you would expect the ROTW to be exempt.  Only in hindsight can you call some analyses \"lazy\" and others \"keen\".

I just looked at the ROTW archives to refresh my recollection regarding the races covered in recent weeks.  A lot of the fields seem pretty full to me.  The Test and the Go For Wand are exceptions, but they were nationally televised races run at Saratoga, which makes them of general interest.  They also featured short-priced favorites coming off enormous figures and giving weight.  TGJB has consistently advocated betting against that type.  I don\'t think the trainer has a lot to do with it.

The point of the ROTW is to show how our form of handicapping contrasts with the traditional, and with the general public\'s, and that of public handicappers\'. The way that works out we end up with races where there are reasons that we don\'t expect a favorite (by definition made so by the public) to run as well as they do.

Basically that\'s my point. They don\'t carry Arlington Park so you may have to go in a different direction and since you are settling on a second choice the offering suffers some. Perhaps it is just slightly but it suffers some nonetheless.

  I\'m sure that the ROTW is a marketing tool to attract new customers (a trial teaser offering so to speak) but maybe there might be some interest in an in-depth ROTW analysis for a (small) fee in addition to the free/TVG ROTW when you felt it is warranted.

  Just a thought but I, for one, would consider paying for this quality product because I\'m probably going to purchase the numbers anyway for most of the key stake races.

Didn\'t mean to offend.  I probably have played less than 20% of the ROTW this year as often I just don\'t like the race. Just for kicks I track the ROI---TG has made me a nice chunk of change this year and I fully understand that the ROTW analysis is just a learning tool.  Summer 2007 the ROTW was on fire with respect to the 1M Turf Races and helped me kill that race at Monmouth on Breeders Cup Day.
