had to be urged more than I\'d have like to see...great looking horse in the parade, but man, I thought the urging by Dominguez was more than I wanted to see.  the horse in the race who really raised eyebrows was Flat Out - he missed the break completely, and was flying at the end to be 4th.
The article on DRF describing his ease of victory was not what I witnessed up close.  As he was my early Derby fav, I am disappointed.  What I found though, was an improving colt named Flat Out.

I didn\'t see the race,however the chart has FO four wide in 2nd turn.Is this

From my vantage point, that seems too far.  There were only 2 horses in the race at that time.  He and Silver City.  If he was 4 wide, then maybe by design...and that was unnecessary.  The rail was absolutely golden at OAK Monday - better than it has been all meet long without question.

It will be interesting to see what figure he gets.  The time was much quicker than anything else at that distance (4 seconds, in a couple of cases).  But the rest of the card was filled with bottom of the barrel claimers.

I really liked Flat Out going into this race, maybe I\'m biased since I scored with him in the Smarty Jones.  His sire Flatter looks like a bargain at $5K! Flatter is a son of AP Indy, placed in 5 of his 6 lifetime starts but his career was cut short by a fractured cannon bone after finishing 3rd to Perfect Drift in the Washington Park Handicap (G2) at Arlington Park. Flatter has also sired fellow 3-year old colts Jack O\'latern, Mike From Queens, Executive Coach and Azicharmyou which have all had moderate success. Flat Out\'s dam is Cresta Lil who has produced 7 runners all winners, including Our Best Man a stakes winner of over $300K.  Race track looked like it was playing towards speed but hard to tell with those claiming races.  I have to think that the poor start cost Flat Out 3rd place, maybe 2nd but he looks like he needs more ground.  Might be worth a shot in the Rebel Stakes.

OF ran app a second slower than 3yr old filly Rachel Alexander ran  the day before.Very different pace dynamics though and track speed for both days not yet available.

Don\'t think OF is got anyone scared right now after crawling home the last half in 51.2 seconds, notwithstanding the sharp early pace he chased (45.98).A nice tightener perhaps, water gets much deeper.All those who clunked late up after that fast pace did not impress.
