Going extremely wide was impressive, but against better horses with a legit pace you get hung out to dry.

Don\'t see the turn of foot in either race to think he can go the Big Brown route. If Pletcher wants to pull that off he needs to find a faster horse IMO.

Johnny V was in Dubai so he was not available to ride yesterday.

But this begs the question of why wasn\'t he the rider in the maiden race.

I agree that visually, he doesn\'t have a quick turn of foot. But you certainly can\'t argue with the time - which was the 2nd quickest of the meet at that distance - and a half a second clear of the Donn winner (whose Beyer topped 100).

So, unless the track was exceptionally quick yesterday, he should get a figure that puts him in the top ranks of the derby hopefuls.

Because Cordero chose another, also Pletcher if I recall correctly, in Dunkirk\'s maiden win.

Saudi Arabia, not Dubai. Velazquez rode a horse for Tom Albertrani in the maiden race, finished up the track. Don\'t know whose choice that was

It was Cordero\'s choice.

Fast race, tough trip and he was used a couple of times. The were running hard into that first turn which makes that ground loss far more relevant than when they are caught wide crawling under a hold.No 2yr old foundation is a concern and he does not look like the most robust colt in the world(only saw him a little)

Might be the fastest 3yr old route dirt prep except for the filly, Rachel Alexander.

Speakingh of Plethcer and JV, what ever happened to Mr Mistofolees? He was a good and fast Storm Cat 2 YO last spring. Broke his maiden at Keenland last April

He got hurt after that Keenland race and is now on a small farm as a stallion.  I own a small piece of his much less brialliant half brother so I have followed his progress.

I had him going into the 1st turn 7-wide and coming out 4-wide, for an average of about 6-wide. He went into the 2nd turn 4-wide and came out 2 or 3 wide for about a 3-wide average. That means he ran an extra 7 lengths. I heard his preliminary Beyer was a 98. I\'m guessing his TG figure should be huge with the ground loss.

Looking at BB\'s neg 3.5 for Fla derby shed\'s light on the gear in question.
Both BB and Dunkirks\'strips were fair to be fair?BB backed that up at CD.
Adjust both raw times for ground loss and slight baggage difference and dunkirk
is roughly 5.5 lengths or 2.75 pts slower. Ten plus pt. jump off first start.
I hope being a Jan. foal has and will help him physically.

Rags got him at \"0\" which would equate to a negative -3 1/2 on TG. Rags just loves those wide trips, even the phony slow ones. This was not.
