Is more information better?

This is not a new study, but this interview at the Financial Times touches on whether horseplayers improve their results with more data or only feel better about their decisions.   Most of it in the first 1/2 of the video.

 I\'ll go first and say I think a few bits of powerful data is probably preferable to a pile of information.

More is better as long as it is accurate.

What is important is having information that most of the public doesn\'t have. That is one reason I think TG is really good. Sure, a few will have it, but most are not going to. Other valuable information might be things like physical issues that you observe or trainer patterns and intent. I used to be this one obscure trainer every summer at Saratoga. He didn\'t run very many horses, but every summer she had an allowance grass horse primed and ready on a big day for a big price. Alas, she seems to have stopped training now. That kind of knowledge is extremely valuable.
