The top 5 rated horses (Tomlinson ratings) for a wet track are...drumroll:
Nowhere to Hide (480)
General Quarters (452)
Freisan Fire (446)
Join in the Dance (429)
Dunkirk (427)

Pass the grain of salt

Just a FYI...I went back and looked at the \'04 Derby (the last wet one, if my memory serves me), and 3/4 in the Super had the lowest Tomlinson ratings for a wet track:

Smarty Jones - 313
Lionheart - 328
Imperialism - 311
Limehouse - 416

Not sure what to make of this, but thought I\'d throw it out there. May just be an oddity or the fact that Lionheart and Smarty were able to make the lead relatively easy and cruise home.

Or maybe that LH and SJ were the two fastest horses in the race.

Or maybe Tomlinson ratings are overrated, to say the least.

Yeah, I am beginning to think that Tomlinson\'s matter just as much as dosage does.

It\'s tough to make figures from the grave.  The current numbers may be called Tomlinsons, but they are not Tomlinsons.

I wasn\'t in the game back then, so are you saying that the figures were better and actually had meaning when Tomlinson was doing them himself?

When I had the book from Tomlinson in the 1990s they seemed to work better than they do now.  Also, I wonder what effect the fact that Tomlinson is deceased has.  Obviously, he has no influence on the numbers.
