Just got done watching all the replays from today, it appeared the track made a dramatic change from sloppy in the 7th race to \"good\" in the 9th, where the track seemed like puffy sand. Can anyone who was on track today comment on what happened between those 2 races (8th was on the turf)? Did they actually put some sand or something down or did it just naturally clear up this quickly? I\'m assuming the same thing is quite possible on Derby day if the showers are spotty and it made me think of the \"Changing Track Speeds\" seminar.
Man,(granted there were some very cheap races today) you had better be right on the lead or closing into it just a length or two back when you hit the top of the stretch there. There were a few cases of cheap speed fading, but even in those races, someone who was just behind them at the top of the stretch won. The rail definitely was not dead, but not sure I\'d call it baised, as it seemed to have more to do with speed lasting than anything else.
