I have never used the TG Analysis. But, because I don\'t have a lot of time, I am going to start. I know they suggest how you play it. I have redboarded the analysis. Sometimes it is accurate, sometimes not. Doe\'s anyone have any suggestions?

The analysis almost always ignores the fav and looks rightly for value.  That being said, it is very expensive to go this route alone.  Use as backup to your own handicapping is my suggestion.  I use it several times per month - usually if I am short on time to handicap a whole card.  I wish that the analysis could be used in create a card - I\'d use it weekly for sure.


I suggest you use it in conjunction with Brisbet\'s fair value odds info - especially if you are just playing without spending the time to handicap off the sheets or form.

I agree that it would be beneficial to have the analysis available as the create a card plan.  When a track is running 5 maiden races with a lot of firsters, the TG analysis or numbers are not my first choice for information.  Create a card would allow for more flexibility directed towards races where the TG approach is more significant.

time and discipline are 2 big factors with this game.  if you dont have the time, u most likely wont have the discipline and clear head to choose solidly.  the track is not going anywhere so i would just wait for an opportunity to sit down and review each race with no time factor against you and give yourself the best chance to do well with the thoros now and in the future.

We cannot include our analysis as part of the Create-A-Card package. We do include it in our +10 bonus for purchasing other full card data for the same track/day. We also include the analysis at a discount as part of our online simulcast book package.

I think JB has made it clear that the analysis is only offered because people ask for it.  TG makes no great claims about its effectiveness, and quite frankly, I\'ve been less than impressed when I\'ve used the analysis, which all brings me to echoing the same point others have made.  If you don\'t have the time to properly use the sheets, then pass.  My typical experience is \"Hey, I can play the races today!  Hey, I don\'t have the time and or desire to put in the hard work with the sheets!  Hey, I\'ll just get the analysis!  Hey, if I would\'ve just bet the odds lines the way the analysis said to, I\'d be up for the day!  But Hey, I bet the majority of my money instead on Pick 3\'s and 4\'s, and show a loss for the day instead.  If the analysis went in depth with each race/horse the way the ROTW does, I\'d be a much bigger fan.  In it\'s current form, it\'s really a \"1-900 -who-do-ya-like\" service more than a handicapping service, which is fine, but I enjoy my horseracing experience immensely more when I get the sheets the night before, put  the work in, and then bet in a disciplined way.

dodie and nyc1347, you guys have hit the nail right on the head. The one factor that separates handicapping from most other forms of gambling is that it offers a significant advantage to someone capable of intelligent analysis. That\'s what makes it a form of investment rather than the sucker games that most other types of wagering offer.

No offense intended to anyone, but If someone is so obsessed with the need for action that they cannot wait to handicap properly, they would do well to examine what drives them to such compulsive behavior.

The Analysis has its place as an alternative view from your own of the PPs. It was never meant as a stand alone substitute for one\'s own handicapping and analysis. Why go to the wars with less than your best weapons, and then not use them as intended to boot?

Ditto to all of the above.  I use it primarily to augment my own handicapping. Occasionally, it will point me toward horses that I have overlooked, and give me reason to give them a second look, particularly if I am spreading in a particular race. or sequence of races.  Sometimes, for better or worse, it will reinforce my feeling about a specific horse.  The most useful comments have been the \"bet against\" favorites.  Overall, I do not think it was intended to be the tail wagging the dog.

Case in point about spreading with Analysis horses:  in yesterdays Big (misnomer) A late Pick 4, I had the sardine, Wishful Tomcat in the 8th, as a single, so I had wiggle room in the other four races.  I went for an $80 ticket, knowing that if I get a couple more chalks, it\'s a $40 return.  But, the first leg was a $25 horse they had on top, and I liked, too.  The second leg, was a 25-1 horse that I only used because it was one of three horses mentioned in the analysis.  The final leg was a chalk they didn\'t like, but, I did.

nice...I tossed the 7 in the last race - but I did a great job of figuring how much I was going to win on that pik 4 with the 4 horses I did have live in the last leg.  

All in all I was quite consistent in doing the figs before I looked at the analysis...
