2YO Euro to keep an eye on?
« on: August 13, 2010, 03:13:25 PM »
A well-bred 2YO colt won today going a mile at Newmarket. He was the 7/4 favorite in his debut, winning by a half length over the 3-1 second choice and by 5 or more over the rest. I know one maiden race doesn\'t mean a whole lot, but he\'s by Galileo, is owned by King Abdulla, and I have to think the Juddmonte people like him very much. The horse\'s name is Frankel.

I have the going allowance (ie track variant) as +0.64 secs per furlong (vsoft).
which give it a rating of 63. Add in the 35lb WFA for a 2yo in midAugust and you get a final rating of 98. Tad below G3. Not bad for a bow. The 2nd home is a half to a G1 winner and 3rd home is out of multi G1 winning Shawanda. Solid as you can get.
