Pimlico\'s 5th race on Thursday

2nd horse pays $36.00 to place (9th betting choice)
1:2 shot runs 3rd
Exacta pays $246.00
Tri pays $689.60
And we have the highest rate of heroin addiction and syphilis in the country.

What are you trying to say, that there are upsets in horseracing? What a shock!

Come on alm. The point is the payoffs are ridiculously low, and someone banged that very improbable exacta pretty good. Given the odds, that should be an $800-1,000 exacta at least.

i did some back of envelope cipherin and the exacta should have paid about $1700 and the tri $2900. i assumed 20% takeout on both, so my tri payoff is probably a little high.
there was about $700 on that exacta combo out of a pool of 112k.
