Can't make sense of this Kee entry
« on: October 18, 2010, 07:11:56 PM »
Kee, Wed., 10/20, R7, RONIN JUSTICE, P#5.  One of the first 3 questions I ask when handicapping is WHY is this horse is entered???  Anybody looking at Kee tomorrow, let me know what you think.  I don\'t believe I\'ve seen a horse over-entered like this in a long time.

Wayne Rice owns and trains this horse and my guess is that he\'s entered for 50k because there is virtually no risk of losing him at that price. The horse is probably more of a pet and he just wants to run him.

If there is one glaring negative that describes t-bred trainers and owners, as compared to their counterparts in the other racing breeds, it\'s that they routinely over-classify their horses.

The horse being discussed is of course a rather egregious example of the practice, but I submit that it\'s not all that much different than running an animal 8, 9 times in N1X and having him get his head ripped off every race, rather than finding a more appropriate N2L claimer somewhere for the poor beast.
