Using TG in contests vs. just making dough
« on: February 09, 2011, 10:40:37 AM »
I asked contest king Rick B. about using TG in his upcoming Orleans attempt.  I didn\'t realize that there were no mandatory races, cuz my question was that beating the competition is different than just beating the races on a given day.  If 30 or so contestants are getting free TG sheets, would they all come to the same conclusion and be betting the same horse in the mandatory race? Not what you want in a contest. Also, Rick and I discussed the fact that TG does often influence the odds of a horse, another negative influence if trying to win a contest.
Now with no mandatory races, the Orleans contest seems to be ideal for TG players, and we are expecting BIG things from BIG Rick B.
For discussion from you pro TG users:  do you think you all choose the same horse if you are reading the same sheets, or is there a larger degree of subjective interpretation?

If you\'ve ever read a string on big races, it\'s obvious that the interpretation of the sheets is different per reader for most races. If that wasn\'t the case, we\'d be buying the $10 analysis of a race card and never have the need to spend the $25 on the sheets.

Agreed. It\'s even true for ROTW, which I pick in part because I think some things are clear.

Correct, as the same concept as every person using the Daily Racing Form.  They all pick the same horse?
