Irwin has a point.  A nice big drug positive for his horse would be sweet revenge.

I wish the article did not contain the blatently false sentence about steroids, however (they were not used \"to mask injuries\").  This is why the racing public is not as educated about drugs as they could be - so much nonsense out there.

Irwin took what should have been the pinnacle of his career and turned it into another \"black eye\" for the sport. Taht was not the time or place to make such a comment. Did anyone say classless?

You kind of have to go easy on Irwin...he talks a lot and sometimes expresses regrets...maybe he will again.

Meanwhile, there are two reasons I don\'t think Animal Kingdom will win in Baltimore.

First, we\'ve noted here many times that poly horses who pop the first time on dirt often don\'t repeat.  That\'s in reference to SoCal horses, but what\'s the difference with AK?  That was poly he had been running on.

Second, this one bore out down the lane at Churchill.  It could be the left handed whip explanation Miff cited, but this guy didn\'t react suddenly to the whip...he made a slow drift over a lot of ground.  I am guessing there is an issue.

I am also guessing Asmussen wins the last 2/3rds of the Triple Crown with Astrology in Baltimore, who worked at least as good at Churchill as anyone and maybe a little better than AK...he may be coming into his own...and with Nehro who may have come out of the key Ark Derby as the best horse in that race...in NY.  For those of you who hate deep closers at Belmont, Nehro also made a good case in the Derby showing tremendous tactical speed.

Nehro definitely has the tactical speed. He was in the first flight in the La Derby, dropped back a bit on the far turn and then re-rallied in the stretch to get 2nd.

He kind of reminds me of Musket Man a little in that he always runs his race but never gets there. Three straight 2nd place finishes where he blows by the winner in the gallop out.

Of all times when the game is so hanging on by a thread. This isn\'t baseball or football. People don\'t care about steroids or concussions to quarterbacks. They can completely careless about belicheck cheating. They care about animals and children and love to hold someone accountable even without having knowledge.
Way to go Irwin..you are a cornball.
