The Whole Card
« on: May 21, 2011, 08:29:13 AM »
You all have pretty well parsed the Preakness to death...how about the rest of the races?  Thoughts will be appreciated during the day.  What follows are my thoughts on the first four races (scratches not out yet.)

Race 1: Forest King, Capital Fellow, Boreal Forest most likely winners in that order.

Race 2: No Brakes, Heaventomurgatroid most likely...Joel\'s Touch, Gold Casing, Money for Love underneath and possible upsetters.

Race 3: Golden Causeway, Majestictroubadour, Double Eagle.

Race 4: Super Espresso, Payton D\'Oro, Life at Ten...in this order; major typical Pletcher upset.

Thanks for comments.

BOL Today Alm with your pix

Race 2 - Playing HTM to bounce out of the exacta, but like the others you used

Race 3 - The 3 is an interesting longshot out of a GB-bred mare, may appreciate the softer turf (it was just yielding yesterday).  Also prefer 7 over Double Eagle but like your first two.

Race 4 - Hoping for something similar, but will also use 6 Checkpoint.  Goldberg usually heats up this time of year and Posse horses can show big jumpups from 4 to 5 yr old.  Plus she is the only horse that will not try for the lead, could be a rough pace duel up front.

Good thoughts, but in the 3rd what do you like about the 7..Cove Star?  Very low turf numbers...I tossed for that reason.

Al: Majestictroubadour is a must-play for me at anywhere near the ML, but I am worried about Cove Star.  He is now consistently banging out numbers that will be competitive in here.  The slow turf numbers show at 3, when he was about equally slow on the dirt; I take from that and his pedigree that he can perform equivalently well on turf.  Also, note that both 1) first race after a trainer change and 2) dirt to turf are very good categories for his trainer, who is also hot.

super espresso to run back to her previous three dirt races.  should be good enough for the win @ 9 to 1.  I\'ll wheel her in the trifecta

OK so far, on to race 5....again, in order of preference.

Race 5: Tonis the Won, Perfect Measure and then Princess Malka and Easy Ashley.

Race 6: Chipshot, Escort, Vengeful Wildcat

Race 7: Lil Bitof Fun, Master Dunker, Broad Rule and then Joes Blazing Aaron and Humble and Hungry

Race 8: Nathan\'s HQ, Ventana, China, Gattopardo

Thoughts?

Prefer perfect measure over toni the won.  4 year old vs. 3 year old. faster and what is more toni is racing on 3 weeks rest from a 6 point top.  finally perfect measure gets jockey change from franklin to prado.

I\'ll try a tri wheel 13 over the 1,2,4,8,11  see if $20 can make a couple hundred

Actually I was rooting for you...I am betting horizontally and would have won regardless.  Sorry about that.

Bad job on the 4th race, you only gave us the top 3 in order....ya know, there WAS superfecta wagering on the race! Try and do better next time. ;-)
