TGJB, not really fishing for a figure if you want to give fine if not no problem. I have some Pals who own the 3rd place finsher in the 6th, Illegally Blonde! The race was pure schooling and the reason she was 12-1ML and went off at 22-1. Broke dead last was 15 back after a quarter and closed with a pretty good rush to be beaten 2 lengths.
Now granted the winner was stopping after opening in 21 and change and maybe about 45 flat...final time was 1:10:97!
8th race went in 1:09:77 but the winner went in 22 and 46. Very impressive and several lengths back to second and several more to third.
The rapid pace of the 6th clearly deteriorated the final time of the race and made the close of Illegally Blonde probably look better than it was. But at the same time when comparing the 2 Events isnt it dangerous to assume that the winner of the 8th if forced to duel thru the opening fractions in 21 would have come anywhere close to that final time in 1:09:77!!
Just asking.
BTW-Look for Illegaly Blonde to route at Saratoga. How good is she?? Only time will tell.....
