Belmont - Biggest Horse
« on: June 05, 2012, 07:07:40 PM »
I still remember Easy Goer doing his best running on the Belmont Track.  The reason the experts say was because he was so big and couldn\'t keep his momentum around tight turns of CD, Pim, and GP, but he could at Belmont Park.

Is there a horse so large (tall) in this years Belmont that might take advantage of the sweeping turns?

IHA was in neutral on the turns at SA,CD and Pimlico, won\'t be the case at Belmont. In the case of IHA, size not the reason.

I must have read/heard at least 10 times that Union Rags is going to love Belmont because he is huge.Don\'t know for certain if he is the biggest but I kept hearing this since before the derby. He did run well when he raced at Belmont and its kind of either put up or shut up for him this race.He can either live up to the hype or prove all the doubters right.

Union Rags is no midget, after the way he grew over the winter.

UR was kinda tall as a 2 yr old, filled out this year.Mystery how fast he really is or isn\'t.

Many great distance horses were on the small side. The great Northern Dancer was dismissed as being too small, was a beast as a racehorse, sired monsters.

Distance follows body type more than anything, imo.Always prefer a fast big one to a fast smaller one.

If you get the NYRA feed,Maggie Wolfendale does a nice job eyeballing body language and body types.
