I\'ve been waiting for someone to start a string not about what happened, but the implications.

1-- no-one is above suspicion. Even if the owners have the purest of motives (and some don\'t), trainers for outfits that put up serious money are under serious pressure to win.

2-- We need out of competition (ooc) testing, not just for big races. This kind of thing would not have been caught otherwise, won\'t be caught here without it. Isn\'t being caught-- see last years BC results when there was occ testing for comparison.

Steve Byk (Kasept) was very adament in his discussion with Allday that the rest of the world has their fair share of issues too when this happened.  It was as if he took glee in it--That the rest of the world isn\'t as clean as advertised is how I took it....

But the difference days later is the punishment.  There is actually a deterrant effect through the horses\' ineligibility and the trainer\'s ban.  Do you think you will hear other problems like this anytime soon over there?  Our punishments here for therapeutic medication/drug violations are pathetically inept. This is one place we need serious change.

As for the OOC testing, let\'s hope that some of the powers that be in the U.S. have heard this story.  And has there been ANY word on OOC testing for the Derby yet?  Didn\'t the Wood announce/implement OOC testing this year?

I\'m waiting to get word on the Derby testing, and just as important the other races over the weekend.

The other difference is the serious attempt to catch people, no matter who they are, in a country that has much smaller purses and presumably fewer resources than here.
