Do you think Churchill Downs Inc. will use its trump card and threaten to take away the Kentucky Derby prep points given to the Florida Derby winner?

Just ask the guys @ Hawthorne Race Track & the Illinois Derby as a prep race.  It was only won by War Emblem.

Its hard for me to hurt too much for either of these places. Calder run like
its the wild wild West (allegedly); Gulf owned by a fella its hard for me to
root for. Remember, Frankstro is Robert Brennan without the helicopter.

Too good to be true in this compelling battle for turf and territory: Calder
decides to name stakes races for unsuccessful Stronach auction buys.

I\'d close both of these places down the last 2 months each year and run for 60
or so days at Hialeah.

By the way, somebody told me that the first jersey securities guy finally got out of prison.  I was one of the few people I know who actually liked the new Garden State and I wish it had lived up to its moniker (something like a racetrack for the 21st century.....which seemed further away than it was at the time). I wonder if they ever conducted racing there in the 21st century.

Last day of racing at Garden State Park was May 3, 2001.
