I actually had money on the race and needed the big favorite in my pick 4\'s (can you remember the last time a Texas bred won at Saratoga? Well, it still hasn\'t happened!), but I was worried about her rail draw b/c she is so big-I can\'t wait till she runs long though.
I don\'t see what Rosario did as blatant. He was turning his filly\'s head so she could see the horse on the rail, notice that he did that for the outside horse first earlier in the stretch when the 2 wasn\'t coming through on the rail; then when the 2 started to move, he turned his filly so she could eyeball the 2.
It got real ugly when they all started shifting and bumping and that\'s b/c they were all tired, not so much b/c of the path.
In years past that wold just be normal race riding, now a days it\'s a DQ.
Angel Cordero would have been DQ\'d about a thousand times if they followed that standard years ago.
I blame the rider on the 2-he should have just sat chilly and swung wide in the stretch. That filly is so tall putting her on the rail is the last thing he should have been thinking-she needs some space.
I think she would have won for fun, just an opinion though, hard to say for sure. I don\'t think Rosario should get days, but he probably will.
She\'s quite an interesting filly, so tall and so fast, and that\'s a rare combo--you can see the Unbridled in her that\'s for sure. Next time. Maybe going long.
