Changing Track Speeds on Rebel Day

I know this is a TG board, but I think this blog post from another figure maker discussing changing track speeds on Rebel Day (and in the Rebel in particular) may be of interest to those who read this board.

It sounds like their methodology is similar to TG\'s but with different figures (no ground loss or weight adjustments) underlying their projections.

One of the interesting things about that piece is TimeForm U.S. is run by Marc Attenberg. Marc worked for DRF but was a Raggie, and got thrown off this board for some truly bad behavior, probably the worst we ever had here. (He outright defamed us and refused to back up or retract his accusation. When he finally sent me an email explaining himself it turned out to be total crap, not at all as how he presented it).

Anyway-- those who have been around a long time know that there was a huge firefight between the two boards on the question of whether tracks change speed, and the Ragozin position has always been that they don\'t (I cover their position and ours in \"Changing Track Speeds\" in the Archives). It\'s not clear from his piece what Craig\'s position is about \"dry\" tracks changing speed, but Marc appears to have a head figure maker who knows the Ragozin position is wrong. (As do all other serious figure makers).

Beyer did not have Razorback and Rebel variant different, CJ at Timeform did.if you believe Beyer, first four finishers in Rebel ran strong figs.....hardly credible.

Back in the day, I\'d make \'sliding\' variants all the time, whenever track conditions were changing.

 I can\'t imagine anyone claiming tracks didn\'t change intraday with a straight face.

 I\'d assume disinformation before idiocy.

In the case of Ragozin, neither. A colossal ego combined with a total inability to see the forest for the trees.

There was lots of \"disinformation\" in his book, but of a totally different kind. The quote in question-- which I point out in \"Changing Track Speeds\"-- could only be made by someone with a giant ego, looking out through his belly button.

Track speed can change any time water is added or evaporates, whether the track condition listed is changed or not.

Well said MIff. I almost posted on this race until I saw that 100 Beyer. Visually it was hard to be impressed with the Winner and Runnerup when they barely beat two others who battled on the front end and probably have distance limitations. The aggregate Beyers of the First Four Finishers makes this easily the Strongest 3YO Prep of the Season.
