Ride on Danza

Looks like the jock handling Danza was a little reckless/selfish in the stretch .

Yes, I agree jock was overly aggressive, and could have been disqualified.  But he was the horse with the most left in the stretch and was prbly the 2nd best horse in the race.  Look at the start and see how he gets absolutely smashed from the 4 spot to the rail.  Takes a good horse to regain his composure and get back going like he did.  He is for real and is a horse to bet back again.

I did see the start and how Danza got blasted two paths to the rail.  I just happened to bet the horse he shut off in the stretch and unpon reviewing it a number of times I could see that he looked over his shoulder , had to know it would be a dangerous move but made it anyway.  I would not be surprised to read that the jock got some days off for that move. Will get em next time.

Danza ran a length slower than CCurv in the final 1/16, so I doubt he had the most left in the stretch. the two bouts of trouble definitely count for something. how much? he ran 2 1/2 lengths shorter than CCurv. do we give Danza 2 1/2 lengths credit for the rough trip? maybe. maybe more. he\'s a nice horse with a nice stride and good heart & lung capacity. reminds me a lot of Palace Malice. the top 4 all have promising futures if they stay sound.

Looked to me like the bump in the stretch cost Medal Count a placing. Should have DQ Danza but then again he was a Pletcher horse.

Let me know the next time you see a horse DQ\'d in the Derby.

The famous story about that goes back at least 30 years-- some Derby rider claimed foul, and the clerk of scales said \"son, you\'re keeping 100,000 people waiting\".

I have a vague memory of a DQ for a minor placing once...

Stewards claimed later they would have taken Real Quiet down in the Belmont (which he clearly would have deserved) if he won the photo, I\'ll believe it when I see it.

Have to agree with never seeing a horse taken down in the KY Derby and I didn\'t expect it , but would not have be surprised if a reprimand of some sort was made.  Am just glad no horse went down at that point in the race since it could have had disastrous effects on all involved.

Monarchos had an objection claimed on him.  Only thing I remember even close to a DQ.

The Derby DQ was 1984 (the one derby I\'ve attended) - Gate Dancer was DQed from 4th to 5th for lugging in on Fali Time.

I am not so familiar with Joe Bravo.  I know he is a very successful jock in New jersey.  Don\'t bet Monmouth enough to know him. I sense a bit of sarcasm.

Very observant KK...I had a lot riding on Medal count, I was watching him all the way, it looked like he was going to make a really nice run when he got shut off and the jock just had to stop.  I actually thought he would have gotten second at least, he was in front of commanding curve at the eight pole and moving very well until getting shut off..

Let me first say that I respect this forum and truly value the great information that I get here. I am a small time player from saratoga, I enjoy betting the triple crown races, breeders cup, and the toga meet. I am not a horseman, just a casual player who loves the game. I trust the sheets and could never bet a race confidently without them. I played Danza and thought he was second best. It looked like he got a good trip (recovered nice from the hard bump before the first turn) and started closing the ground on the front runners before they hit the turn for home. It looked like bravo tried to follow Chrome\'s path appox 1-2 lengths behind him. When they straightened out for home I thought he had horse but samraat drifted in and chitu started backing up. It looked like bravo wanted to split them initially but the horse would not. In a desperate attempt to get him daylight (because I believe he had horse but no where to go) he wheeled him 2 paths out (which stopped him as much as it did anybody else). I know that curve ran a better number (I had him on my ticket as well and really loved his chances) but it appeared to me Danza lost his chance when the speed backed up in the stretch and he was getting boxed in. Then again, I may be partial because I played the horse. I don\'t object regarding the DQ, just my thoughts on the horse.

Danza did get bumped and moved to the rail but this is a little deceiving.  He had just begun to move over and the bump made it kind of look worse than it did.  This horse wanted the rail.  Wanted to try to win the Derby with a similiar trip like his Arkansas derby.  What he was doing in the stretch I have no idea.  Just wreckless.  I dont know if I have seen a move like this in the KD.  It was just crazy.  He was not moving faster than Medal Count in my opinion and should have been moved down.
