He got stopped. That was pretty clear. To say he would have won is silly. A clear third for sure, and maybe second.
Interesting how \"simple\" the Preakness usually works out each year. (Not red boarding as I didn\'t cash, I played social inclusion). Simple meaning the derby horses dominate every year. And every year we look for new shooters. Surely 2014 would be different as only two derby horses ran back besides chrome. And both were also rams in the derby. What happens? Chrome wins, the derby horses run 2-4 and certainly would have been 2-3 if not for a rough trip.
The \"new shooter\" angle works once a decade or more. Bernardini was a freak and just got a late start that year. The only others I can remember are red bullet and touch gold, who might have one except for awful stumble
Now, as \"simple\" as the Preakness usually is, the Belmont is a completely different story. D\'tara, Commendable or Drosselmeyer anybody? Ugh.
