Hmm. Marion County. Ocala.
You know Silver, the \"purse money\" at stake on some of these Feb./Mar./Apr.
1/8th mile and 1/4 mile breezes is quite considerable. In hundreths of
seconds, your rather modestly bred mustang has fetched a decent price.
Screw quarterhorse racing, where the most entertaining part of the race is
after the wire, these jocks trying to get the horse pulled up. But I digress.
I\'ll make it simple... let us bet on the works at these 2YO in training sales.
Of course, it would be optimal, in more ways than one, if the (ha) powers
that aren\'t in Racing pushed back 2YO racing a couple of months, pushed back
the sales a little bit. I mean we could all bet on 4 and 6 horse fields,
going 3f or 4f out of the gate. You would be betting off the catalogue page,
with riders ranging between 90 and 140 pounds.
There would be no need to provide purse money in these pari mutuel training
races, because no 2YO would be allowed to go through the auction ring without
having run in a training race.
The wagering public would have the chance -- maybe their only chance -- to
bet on some horseflesh which will never make the races for whatever reason.
