Spa late pick 4
« on: August 16, 2014, 07:15:07 AM »
The year and meet of tough beats, wrong end of photo\'s and stewards decisions continues. I\'m still within one swing of par and it\'s a great day to toss Stopchargingmaria in the Alabama which I\'m hoping kills about 85 % of the pick 4 tickets. She ran a big new top of an 8 week layoff and bore out in the stretch something she has a habit of and I\'m of the opinion she will want NO PART of the 1 1/4 mile Alabama.

8TH:
Mosler would be my key if she wasn\'t on the rail at 7F, Scam,Surfing USA, Dream Saturday & All MY Memories as we will use 5 and pressing on Dream Saturday and All My Memories. A race full of same number horses with the Pletcher having the one freak race in Tampa then disappearing for 5 months; there\'s a surprise.

9TH:
Orino, Petrocelli ( Rico was actually one of the few Red Sox I ever liked!) Mobridge. Orino has the rail going a mile on the inner with the rail at 18 feet today; good turf course but a stiff breeze and the sun is out so I\'m sure it will upgrade, main is fast, Mellon rail is 27 feet. Rico and Mobridge both have a nice forward moving pattern and are better prices so another press on those 2.

Alabama:
If not Maria then WHO?
Unbridled Forever, Joint Return and Fortune Pearl all have run with her and been in contact with similiar figures until she exploded in her last. Joint Return came off an 0-2-X with a good run after a troubled start in her last and will be the best price. My dilema is her numbers may be inflated due to Kendrick 3W Carmouche, I like blinkers on. Rosie could sit a perfect trip as it looks like Size will go from the outsideand Miss Besilu next to her. Got Lucky has the best pattern, is the best bred to get 10 furlongs, the \"other Pletcher\" winning a stakes is no surprise but no one run closers for me at 10F.

11TH:
A 3 horse race between the 2 Chad\'s and Shaun\'s Blessing who I like the best but am weary of 2 for 2 on slow breaks.

We\'re 5 X 3 X 3 X 3 = $135 for a buck, Will go the main ticket a couple of times and add the presses on the 1st 2 legs.

Late Septmeber like weather the past 2 days, it never hit 70 yesterday, breezy and very little sun. Great Thursday & Friday crowds and 75, sunny and less breeze today should make for 35,000 real folks or so.

Good luck,

Frank D.

Frank

Best of luck today!

8th - I really liked Mosler and had an early derby future on him but he never reappeared.  Looks like they stopped on him in Feb. and didn’t start training again until June.  Tough to bet in this spot but a very interesting horse next out going a route of ground.

Fire Starter also interesting since I saw his race at CD live, where he was closing with Commanding Curve.  Went to Dutrow and he broke his maiden, then shipped to Oakland and back to Hobby.  Would not be surprised a a big jump up here.

I\'m totally against Surfing USA.

All My Memories – Might be a value play in this race.  Last two where far better than his other races and he wasn’t crushed by Surfing USA when that one broke his maiden.

Last but not least - Celebrated Talent – McLaughlin 2nd off the layoff, Bernardini.

Look like the race to spread.  Didn\'t have the time to get up to Saratoga this year, maybe next.  Later.  T.

Nice hit on Dream Saturday (13/1).  Good luck with the remaining races.
