Belmont Race 10 on 10/24
« on: October 26, 2014, 12:12:49 AM »
After they passed the wire in the 10th at Belmont Friday, the 6 horse, Chase this Bandit fell and they stopped the feed.  Does anyone know if horse and jockey were OK?  I don\'t recall ever seeing a horse fall after a race, that\'s not a good sign, hope everyone is OK.

Euthanized. Cornelio unhurt.

It happens. Eight Belles a few Derbies back most notable example.

Thank goodness they didn\'t show much! Her (? I think) left front was broken and flapping in the breeze. She was my pic and ran a real gutsy race in only her second try. R.I.P.

Standing instructions at most venues is to cut away from feed and not replay the incident. Most ugly site in the game and seems to happen too often.Getting unsound horses out of the game a tough problem.

Very recently read a study indicating that the \"bad step\" theory is overstated and many breakdowns have pre existing conditions which eventually caused the implosion.

Really sorry to hear that he was euthanized, that was a gutsy race.  Glad to hear the jockey is OK.
