Am I crazy to be linking Cigar St, Imperative, and Majestic Harbor in the Classic? Would make for a hell of a three horse box.

Can\'t fault you there. This race reminds me a bit of the 1999 Classic, where notable horses like Lemon Drop Kid, Behrens, River Keen did not fire leaving Cat Thief, Budroyale and others to slug it out for top honors.

All 3 of your mentions have run fast enough to factor in the race.

Not crazy at all....of the three I love Cigar street.  I think he\'s primed to drop another -3 like he did at GP last year.

Agree on Cigar Street but his post is a concern.He should save ground but no way of telling if he\'d like that trip.He\'s a big long striding horse that never ran stuck in behind traffic or with horses to his outside.Watch his races and he\'s always been in the clear.

No telling what kind of trip he gets from the #2 or how he\'ll react if shuffled or with the other stalkers to his outside.It\'s the one variable I was worried about.

Middle out,3w3w sitting the Mucho Macho Man trip from last year I loved him.Wasn\'t worried about the ground loss if he could run back to the GP race.Now-who knows?

Some horses like CC don\'t want to be inside.No way of knowing until we see it with Cigar Street.

Does anyone know what sent Cigar Street to the sidelines for a year and a half? Mott is well known for his patience and ability to rehabilitate a horse. This horse is attracting many pundits and if he recovers to the -3 could be the winner as you point out.

But understanding 19 months off and missing most of his 3, 4 and 5 year old seasons is a nagging question. Yet running one good race, winning the Breeders Cup Classic makes a campaign, a year and a career.

In all likelihood, he will be prominent for much of the race. Top jock helps. Lots to like but not for me yet.

Lastly, I for one, have been suspicious about and dubious of horse\'s duplicating top GP #\'s elsewhere. When does the Tonalist tout begin. That one is a concern to me.

Cigar Street started out with trainer Steve Margolis, finishing a very good fourth in the Louisiana Derby after a 13¾-length maiden victory. He came out with a condylar fracture in his left hind leg and was off nine months. Sent to Mott, Cigar Street returned to go 3 for 3 at Gulfstream Park, capped by the Grade III Skip Away, but then fractured his right hind leg and was off those 17 months.
