JB and I lived together through this EXACT same thing 4 years ago to the day with Swift Warrior

JB drove the Swift Warrior purchase, he ran huge for us in the Rushaway Stakes in his first race running a TG fig that would have likely won the Blue Grass and then he got the same exact injury that Far From Over got in his final breeze before the Blue Grass as well.

These holy weeks are no good for me and my horses!

good news is that this is a really tiny fracture.  he will only need 30 days on the farm for it to heal up so we should be back in great shape by the summer time.  Swift Warrior came back to win three graded stakes for us (running signifciantly faster on the TGs) on the other side of this injury and I am confident that FFO will do the same especially since he is so lightly raced and an immature late May foal.

I really don\'t think we would have had too much of a shot in the Ky Derby given both the lack of foundation and the fact that there are so many fast horses this year but we had a HUGE shot in the Wood this weekend.  The horse was training great heading into this and had definitely moved forward since the last race in a big way.

Only silver lining in this is that now I can particpate in the Derby chatter on the board since I am not biased now!

also, just the way the racing gods work, I think my three other horses running in stakes on Saturday will all run big (because I won\'t get an ounce of enjoyment out of it knowing that we didn\'t get to run in the big one)

so, I think you can all play with confidence:

Power Alert in the Shakertown (as long as the grass isn\'t too soft)
Majestic Affair in the Bay Shore (as long as the track isn\'t a sticky drying out kind of track that he doesn\'t like)
Royal Squeeze in the Tampa Fla Bred race! (no qulaifications on this one other than the horse is a cheating son of a gun who tries to put on the brakes as soon as he makes the lead)!

What a game....I am taking up stamp collecting from now on!

we had to declar Warrior from the Blue Grass the day they drew entries just like we declared FFO from the Wood today, the day they are drawing entries for the Blue Grass

Jim sorry to hear about your misfortune and hoping for a full recover. Apparently your misfortune has attracted Tiz Shea D back into the Wood. Leading me to believe Mott didn\'t think he could hit the board (KD points) will FFO in the Wood field.

In reviewing Tiz Shea D\'s trip in the Gotham I thought he was hampered significantly by the pacesetters slowing and obstructing his finish. Then after squeezing by in the stretch he accelerated to grab 2nd.  One of those trips many might not notice as strong. With the spotlight off of FFO, I\'m hoping most of it falls on Daredevil leaving Mott to get a square price.

I am interested in your insight and opinions on the race which you must certainly have scouted?

Yeah, been thinking about this race for 4 weeks so probably too close to it

Daredevil and El Kabeir are both awesome horses.  The question is how far they want to go.  Sentimentally, I am rooting for El Kabeir just because I am friends with the Terranovas and I would love to see Johnny win a Wood and I respect the horse for being able to dance every dance this winter

From a gambling perspective, with the short price likely on both El Kabeir and Daredevil, I think you have to look to Tiz Shea D and also Lieutenant Colonel.

I was out at Belmont Park on Saturday morning with my two youngest kids to watch Majestic Affair put in his final breeze for the Bay Shore and Lt. Col breezed in the same set as Majestic Affair.

Carmouche breezed Lt. Col and he came back to the barn and said \"that wasn\'t the same horse that ran in the Gotham\" Horse looked and moved great on Saturday.  Sometimes the jockeks have no idea so I wouldn\'t put all my eggs in that baseket but I figure that\'s at least worth passing along

If El Kabeir and/or Daredevil can get the distance, everyone else is running for 2nd or 3rd but if they can\'t, the race is wide open and I would look at Lt. Col as a live longshot based on what I saw on Sat morning.

Should we buy more Skyworks Solutions here at this level (with a two year horizon)? Or has it run it\'s course for a while?

Wanted to post about how one of the more impressive runners I saw during my
limited exposure to Gulfstream this winter was running Saturday at Keeneland...

...that would be Brian Lynch\'s Australian import Power Alert, who ran two very
strong turf sprints at the Gulf under \"The Leper\".

Took a peek at the Form just now and was surprised to see a familiar name as
owner.

Don\'t know when you got involved with this one Jim, but best of luck with him.

A Canadian friend told me that the bulk of Lynch\'s barn will be at Belmont this
Spring.

yeah, we bought him after that race

both of his races in the states are several lenghts faster than anything else in the race on the TGs (even 2 points faster than the Breeders Cup turf sprint horses from last year) but we all know that ground loss and trip are huge in these big field turf sprints so we will need some luck

I need this creature to help start to put the pieces back together again after the FFO debacle this week
