Upon Further Review - The Pace

There is probably more in than is being considered. No there are no like 3 dead sprinters in here such as Groovy, Bachelor Beau and Zabaleta like the hear Ferdinand came from last, but there are 8+ who like to 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Including the Top 5 choices at least!!

This doesn\'t include the rabbit types such as Mr Z, Stanford, Ocho Ocho Ocho and even throw Tencendur in there for good measure. Doubt El Kabir is sent but he has before and would figure to see him laying behind the leader on the rail.

If some Rider has the courage on one of these Top Ones to grab his horse and sit 10 lengths back he might be in business at the top of the lane. Somewhere along the way it\'s possible you get stopped, but if you dont at least in the lane you won\'t stop!! You hear me JV;)

Worry not about JV he will be 3W both turns helping that forward move into negative territory!!! I can see a pace collapse and hopefully he\'s in that 2nd tier with a running lane.

Frank I like your thinking. In my assessment above I failed to mention Firing Line, Frosted and Mubtaahij. All of these horses have been consistently within 2-3 lengths of the lead in all of these preps all spring.

10-12 horses just don\'t fit in the same spot. Someone needs to show these Jocks some footage of Shoemaker on Ferdinand, McCarron on Alysheba, Bailey on Grindstone, admittedly following Day on Prince of Thieves and finally Borel on Street Sense and saying this is how you do it.....

This is the most difficult piece of a very difficult puzzle. Way too many horses with the same running style. Post position and a possible track bias that day will be more important this year than most..

I\'m not sure Borel is a good example. Yes he won the race, but if the Red Sea doesn\'t part for him all the way around the track he doesn\'t hit the board.

A lot of this years pace will be determined by post position. I say Ocho and maybe Dortmund... Agree though pace is giving me a hassle..   Good luck

Borel got very fortunate when the hoke on the rail at the top of the lane seemed to almost open on que as he was moving nearly full speed. The rest is there if a rider is confident he can navigate. I bet Street Sense and in no way figured he would have one horse beaten when they hit the backstetch. And remember Hard Spun who he ran down had blazed in 33 and 3 out in 46, 3 days before the race.

Guy has to be confident in what he is doing.

I just hope that we don\'t get a repeat of the BC Classic from Martin Garcia on Dortmund making a hard left when the gate opens wiping out several others.  Interesting thing if he does, he will be wearing the same silks as last time.

I saw a D. Wayne Lucas recent interview after a MR.Z workout where he said that he is most worried about what is lined up to the left and right of him in the starting gate, referring to the overzealousness of the jockey.  Mentioned no names but certainly was referring to them.
