2 horse race between Condo Commando (who has two 1 1/8 wins) and Birdatthewire.
Who is going to go with CC? The only choices seem to be Pletcher\'s duo and that would be suicide if either one goes. Even though her number in the Gazelle is slower than 5 others in here, remember some things: It wasn\'t much slower and it was at 1 1/8th. All those better #s were at 1 1/16th, who knows what they\'d run at 1 1/8? We know CC can run fairly fast for this group at 1 1/8 already.
Now if CC is challenged, it sets up perfectly for Birdatthewire who shouldn\'t be hindered by her outside post because she shouldn\'t be wide going out for the lead early, she\'ll be mid pack or back further. She ran pretty fast for a filly who was strangled down the backstretch in the GP Oaks.
Now some will say the same thing for the horse insider her, Stellar Wind, but I think she\'ll be too far back because she\'s not a good gate horse & when I looked at Formulator I absolutely hated her competition. Talk about beating nothing, she hasn\'t faced 1 filly worthy of running in the Oaks or just about any real graded stakes (Yes I know she\'s won 2, but the fillies in California were a dreadful bunch). Also Sadler\'s 1/25 at CD the last 5 years. While the fillies in NO were better than the ones in California, I don\'t think they were much either. Jones\' duo will take plenty of money and they\'re relatively fast but look at when CC faced Angela Renee (2nd to Lovely Maria in last race) last year, CC was in another zip code.
