Criticizing others is a worth while activity, if someone pays you to do it, otherwise it just seems to demonstrate you don\'t understand the situation. How could you? I assume, all you know is what little you\'ve read. Now as an expert and authority you want to disparage a couple of dumb ass hicks from California.

I commend them for their efforts. A big investment. A big gamble but if they can pull it off, a big reward. If it all fizzles, so what? These are self made men. Wildcatters that came from nothing probably believing you only go around once in life. They may find a taste for fish-n-chips or curry to supplement there taste for tacos & burritos.

Art Sherman, I think he\'s cool. One of his babies (same sire as CC) ran a good 2nd in its second race over the weekend @ very short odds behind an impressive Sadler first timer. I doubt much fazes Art much any more.

If that post was serious, it\'s among the biggest loads of bull shoveled on this site in a while. Yes, taking a Derby champion and wasting his remaining months on a fruitless, hopeless wild goose chase is brilliant, gutsy management. The part about tacos and burritos was wonderfully clever too.

Getting paid to report on something doesn\'t mean those people have special insight.  Often times, they are wrong and misinformed. There is nothing wrong with commenting on something based on what you have observed. If \"being there\" is the basis for having an opinion, there wouldn\'t be much conversation about anything.

Nobody is disparaging them.  Actually, the decision to race in England was made by Perry Martin.  Sherman and Coburn were against it.

So what?  Its a gamble with little upside.  The downside?  You have a once in a lifetime horse, and you are wasting his career on fruitless endeavors. I wouldn\'t commend stupidity and stubbornness, which is what Martin is exhibiting.

This has nothing to do with Coburn\'s comments.  He didn\'t want to go, was overruled by Martin.

If you can tell us how this a great idea, I would love to hear you thoughts. Most people think its ridiculous. And with good reason.

I\'m not sure I agree that it was such a fruitless endeavor.  The horse has a stone bruise, if I read correctly.  It happens.  Would he have won?  I highly doubt it.  But he may have surprised and given a good account of himself and that would not have hurt his reputation at all.  I thought that if he could somehow crack the top 5 it would be a good run. He had two top jocks work him.  They both thought he was a quality horse and both said he was still a bit hesitant running uphill. But his last work, he finally changed leads like clockwork and was finally getting the hag of it.  Rae Guest said CC was a very tired horse when he came to his yard. He obviously did not respond to training as quickly as they would have liked hence missing his prep for the POW.  And now he is not starting in the POW.  But, the horse got plenty of rest and great care and a lot of turf work.  He certainly should be fit and rested and ready to run.  So, I wouldn\'t call it a waste as the horse got the R&R that he obviously needed. The shame is that he would get ground that would favor him as it is good to fast, which is firm to them.  It was a gamble and whether you appreciate the gamble or not, we need more people to take gambles in racing. Racing should be about challenges and not about playing it safe.  I would like to see more take that gamble.  There are a few horses I would love to see in Fabre\'s barn.

Go Dubs is right!  End 40 years of futility tonight.

They made $2M in Dubai. No disgrace there and could have made more.  Running in Ascot looks ill advised but hindsight is 20-20.  They are fans more than owners and got caught up in the excitement.

I just hope he runs well on his return to states.
