Another blazing work for Runhappy!
11 4/5, :23 2/5, :34 3/5, :46 2/5, :58, 3/4 in 1:09 4/5, out in 1:23 this follows that fantastic gate work last week.  We might have yet seen his best.

My guy isn\'t at Keenland yet, but I got a text this AM from someone else who saw the work and said he looks incredible, out in 122 3/5, double gallop out to a mile in 136 3/5.  Very serious work by a very serious runner who seems to like the surface.  Not all of them are going to IMO.  Especially curious to see how the west cost horses get over it.  If someone has the time, it would be interesting to take a look back through the results so far from the meet and see how the well meant west coast horses have done.

Runhappy broke poorly in every race,sometimes wandering in the stretch, a concern. In his prior gate work, he was sent hard and really did not come away quickly.Inside post could make him vulnerable,but except for Private Zone, there really isn\'t unusual early gas in the sprint.

Runhappy did break his maiden from off the pace.


Who is early sprint fav? Runhappy or Private Zone.

Would think PZ has to be ML favorite at least.

Sure one or the other has to be favorite. Runhappy getting lots of ink with works and trainer Maria Borell.

Just heard Welsch not too thrilled with Private Zones last work.

Just wondering why a horse who is presumably sound and fit would need to work
that fast nine days out from a six furlong race. Is the horse running the show?

I do not know that much about this field behind the two faves, but my recurring
hallucination about the Sprint is that the two contenders cut a wicked pace, cook
themselves, bottom out the stalkers and set up a chaotic result, like a Euro (is
there one?), a turf horse or Palace or La Verdad (probably in with the girls in
what is a very good betting race) or one of the DJake runners.

Has Runhappy ever been in a protracted duel with a stakes quality runner? Is
there anyone who does not see PZ/RH dueling all in for at least a half mile in
this race?

Post position and the break may be a key factor in the sprint pace.If you believe in the internals data, neither Runhappy or Private Zone are especially quick the first 1/16th from the gate(timed from gate before run up).Sure both are going out of there hard and if one clears that could be the race.

Private Zone has never gotten to the lead in the BC Sprint.  Assuming a neutral break, I\'m pretty sure Runhappy would get the jump on him and beat him to the front.

I was told that the saddle slipped on Runhappy in the Phoenix which might account for the poor start.  Still that race was impressive in my book.

Wrong,

Story goes that Runhappy is always off a bit slow.Re the saddle slipping,they were going to equip him with a breast collar but Prado said no.

Lotta moving parts with this issue including he\'s possibly weak behind and or narrow where the saddle sits(that\'s why a breast collar is sometimes used to secure saddle from moving)

The King\'s Bishop was arguably a protracted duel with Stakes quality runners scenario you mentioned. Runhappy was wide and kicked away. The raw time was quick.

I\'m wondering if Ron Ellis is going to ship in with Masochistic. That one insists on the lead. In the recent Sprint Championship @ SA he and a rival dueled into oblivion with :21.2 quarter and a sub :44 half.

Masochistic recently worked fastest of 53 so his last race, albeit a meltdown, may not have slowed him down a bit. While I don\'t think Masochistic has a shot to win he could complicate RunHappy\'s race.

Seems to me Runhappy\'s race to lose.

Suggest all you RunHappy supporters go back and watch videos of his last few races before plunging.

A speed horse in the BC Sprint who can\'t get out of the gate and is second choice in the betting is a tough bet, I don\'t care how he is working.

If he draws inside, I have to toss him.   If he draws outside, maybe use defensively.

Masochistic quicker early than either PZ or RunHappy

Private zone a bear in the stretch.   Horse had repassed horses more times in his career than I remember any quality horse doing.   And the negative 3s aren\'t anything to sneeze at

Richie B, I won\'t single PZ as much as I love the horse, because your pace meltdown a pretty likely scenario, especially if Masochistic runs.   Would definitely have a saver on one or two deep closers with good figures.   As much as I despise Jacobsen, as the poster child for NY cheaters, his salutes amigos at double digit odds isn\'t the worst saver.

I dunno if i agree with all of this, although an outside draw would be better for Runhappy IMO.  He takes a 1/16th to get going, but he always gets going.  And i haven\'t seen any evidence that he is a must have the lead or toss him type.  Private Zone, on the other hand, has shown that he usually does need the lead to run his race. But if PZ runs his race Happy and just about everyone else would have to move forward to beat him.  I note that Happy is only getting 2 lbs as a 3yr old.

I guess i do agree that i wouldn\'t take a short win price on either of them.  That being said, how can you not use both in horizontals? Don\'t need a bomber in every BC race to hit a a big ticket.

Runhappys King Bishop was faster than Private Zones race, same day and distance, not sure he needs to get faster to win.

JB made track speed adjustment for the 2 races, could not get there looking at the whole day.

Seems to me that someone like Kobe\'s Back can get in the number at huge odds.This year\'s version not that strong. PZ not a 6f horse. He needs to be the controlling speed. If not, I toss.
