The Pimlico special looks like a great race on Friday.  Funny Cide, Midway Road, Dynever and Southern Image as top contenders and viable longshots in Ole Faunty and Evening Attire.  Pimlico is offering a Pimlico Special - Preakness daily double, so it could be a way to get a little value if you think Smarty is unbeatable and unbettable at 7-5 or so.  Any opinions on the Special?  Is Funny Cide rounding into form?  Is Dynever finally ready to assume position at/near the top of the handicap division?  Was the Big Cap a negative \"key\" race and thus Southern Image an underlay?

DYNEVER looked as good as ever, very explosive though the field was kinda weak. Don\'t know what NUMBER he ran, but he\'s rested and should run big again.

I think it is a two horse race between Dynever and Funny. Midway Road loves Keeneland but doesn\'t run nearly as well elsewhere. Southern Image is my Rodney Dangerfield--I don\'t give him much respect but he is working up a storm right now. Must prove he can ship.

Dynever is probably a little faster than Funny except for last years Preakness figure.

This is a big race for BOTH HORSES, Funny to prove last years run was not a fluke and Dynever to become recognized as one the better Handicap horses around.

One good thing working in Dynevers favor, it looks like it is not going to rain. Those are the only two times he has been off the board.

Dynever hasn\'t quite gotten the attention he MAY (never won a GR I or II) deserve so if he wins on Friday he will get get it. Then again if he loses........

When I put up my post last evening about The Pimlico Special I had no idea if the ROTW was already up. Regardless, looking at the commmentary I see how lukewarm if not downright negative TG is on Fuuny Cide.

I was viewing the return to his previous TOP as a positive and a potential breakthrough. TG because of the eleven month gap in between as a negative.

What is a proper timeframe for this type of form cycle 4-6 months??

Clearly not eleven.

The rest of my analysis wasn\'t bad so maybe it is the Funny Fan in me coming out and hoping for the best.
