At the morning line of 8-1, Mind Control appears to be value. To my eye, he lays over the field on number power and spacing might be right for one of the big ones.
Besides working out a trip, am I missing anything?

Baffert addressed the decision to have Justify’s final work in California instead of over the Churchill Downs surface.

“This track at Santa Anita is a very deep, demanding track and they get really fit here,” Baffert said. “We’ve shipped all over and I don’t think there’s a big difference. We used to go there a few weeks early but last year we went in the week before and won the Kentucky Oaks. I don’t think it makes a difference.”

I\'m not so sure about the foundation argument.  Does it just apply to the Derby?  I remember Bernardin showing up for the Preakness with no 2 yr old foundation, only 3 races in the holster and destroying the field.  Not saying this guys is the next Bernardini, Curlin, etc., but if Prado works out a trip and has enough horse, statistics or jinx will not keep him from wearing roses.

Not only that, the dam is out of Lord at War(arg),  Who did nice work at a distance (1985 santa anita handicap winner) and was also the dam sire to Kentucky Derby winner War Emblem.  I do not see any reason why the horse wouldn\'t run on dirt.  

I\'m not touching the fast enough issue.

covelj70 mentioned it earlier, commenting on JB\'s comment that \"something\" always happens after young 3 year olds run that fast too soon and the sample in the archives prove it out.  As it relates to I Want Revenge, maybe the stumble is just the beginning and the weak field made his win look better than it really was.

The same goes for Quality Road.  Perhaps the quarter crack is just the beginning.  Taking into account how the track was playing and where the main contender had to come from to get into contention, perhaps made the win look better than it was.

There is a ringing in my ear saying the numbers are the numbers regardless of how good they looked earning them.  An off is an off, right?
